CHAFFCOMBE is a small rural village, populated in the main by retired and to a lesser extent younger families and with a farming bias. The population is approximately 170 and is stable. There is no ethnic mix. There are neither shops, public house nor public transport. The former village school, closed in the 1960s now functions as a village hall and during the past 18 months has been extended and renovated, it is used frequently for both village and church based events e.g. coffee mornings, lunches for church funds and regular concerts from outside artists.
